If a tool on OnlinePitchChanger.com is not loading, processing correctly, detecting the expected result, or downloading an output, the issue is often related to the browser, input file, device resources, permissions, or the source material itself.
Use the checks below to identify the most common problems.
Start Here: Four Quick Checks
Before changing advanced settings, try these first:
- Reload the page and start the tool again.
- Use a current version of a major browser.
- Check the tool’s required input, file type, or permissions.
- Try a smaller, shorter, or simpler input if the browser becomes slow or unresponsive.
If the problem continues, use the relevant section below.
Tool or Page Does Not Load
If the page opens but the tool interface is missing, frozen, or unresponsive, possible causes include:
- JavaScript being disabled;
- an outdated browser;
- a temporary network or script-loading problem;
- a browser extension interfering with the page;
- an in-app browser with limited media support;
- stale cached site files.
Try:
- refreshing the page;
- closing and reopening the browser;
- testing in a current standalone browser;
- disabling potentially interfering extensions temporarily;
- testing in a private or clean browser window;
- clearing the site’s cached data if the issue continues.
Do not permanently disable security or privacy tools unless you have identified a specific conflict and are comfortable doing so.
File Will Not Open or Process
If an audio or video file is rejected, does not load, or produces an error, the file may not be supported by that particular tool or browser.
Possible causes include:
- unsupported media format;
- unsupported codec inside an otherwise familiar file type;
- damaged or incomplete media;
- a file that is too large for the current tool or device;
- insufficient browser memory;
- unusual encoding.
Check the individual tool page for its current supported formats and size limits.
If the file works in another media player but not in the tool, re-exporting it with a trusted audio or video editor may help.
For large files, testing a shorter section can also help determine whether the problem is related to device resources rather than the media itself.
Processing Is Slow or Stuck
Audio and video processing can place significant demands on browser memory and the device’s processor.
If the tool remains on a processing state for an unusually long time, try:
- waiting for the current attempt to finish before clicking again;
- reloading the page if there is no visible progress;
- using a shorter media file;
- closing other memory-intensive browser tabs or applications;
- trying a simpler source file;
- reducing the amount of processing applied;
- restarting the browser.
For tools designed for local browser processing, larger or longer files can require substantially more device resources.
More information about media handling is available on the Data Security page.
Download Does Not Work
If a result has finished processing but the download does not start:
- confirm that processing has fully completed;
- check your browser’s download area;
- make sure your device has enough available storage;
- retry the operation once;
- reload the page and process the file again if necessary;
- try another current browser if the problem continues.
Do not rename an unknown downloaded file to .mp3, .wav, or another extension simply to make it open. Changing a filename extension does not convert the underlying media format.
If a browser displays a download warning or blocks automatic downloads, review the browser’s current site-permission settings.
Audio Sounds Distorted or Unnatural
Pitch shifting, tempo adjustment, and other forms of digital audio processing can change how a recording sounds.
Artifacts may become more noticeable when:
- the pitch change is large;
- the tempo change is extreme;
- the source is already distorted or heavily compressed;
- a full mix contains many overlapping instruments and effects;
- the recording contains exposed vocals;
- the device struggles to process the media.
Try:
- moving the pitch or tempo setting closer to the original;
- changing one parameter at a time;
- using a cleaner source recording;
- testing a shorter section first;
- comparing the preview before exporting.
There is no universal semitone limit that guarantees natural results for every recording.
For a deeper explanation, see How It Works.
Microphone Is Not Working
Some vocal and pitch-analysis tools require access to your microphone.
If the microphone is unavailable:
- check whether the browser permission was denied;
- confirm microphone access is allowed in your device settings;
- make sure the correct input device is selected;
- close another application that may be using the microphone;
- reload the page after changing permissions;
- avoid in-app browsers if microphone access is restricted there.
Your browser should normally show an indicator when a website is using the microphone.
If you deny microphone permission, a microphone-based tool may not be able to perform its main function.
For details about microphone and data handling, see Data Security.
The Tool Detects the Wrong Note or Octave
Pitch detection can sometimes jump between notes or octaves even when the user feels they are singing one pitch.
Possible causes include:
- background noise;
- room echo;
- very soft singing;
- unstable pitch;
- breathy phonation;
- strong harmonics;
- poor microphone positioning;
- microphone gain that is too high or too low.
For more consistent results:
- test in a quiet room;
- sustain one clear note;
- avoid sliding between pitches during measurement;
- keep a consistent distance from the microphone;
- repeat the note before accepting an unexpected result;
- avoid forcing extremely low or high notes.
Automatic pitch detection is useful, but it is not infallible.
Vocal Range Test Gives an Unexpected Result
A vocal-range result can change from one test to another.
That can happen because of:
- warm-up level;
- fatigue;
- technique;
- room noise;
- microphone quality;
- unstable extreme notes;
- pitch-detection errors.
Try repeating the test with clear, comfortable sustained notes.
Do not force your voice simply to produce a larger range number.
A measured range also does not by itself determine a definitive voice type. Tessitura, timbre, passaggio, vocal weight, and other factors can matter.
Voice Type Result Looks Wrong
A Voice Type Test can provide a useful starting point, but automated classification has limits.
A result may feel inaccurate if:
- the measured range itself is incomplete;
- extreme notes were included that are not comfortable;
- the microphone detected an incorrect octave;
- the classification relies heavily on range;
- your tessitura differs from the raw range result.
Try repeating the vocal-range measurement first.
Treat automated voice-type results as informational rather than formal fach classification or individualized vocal assessment.
Song Key Result Looks Wrong
Automatic song-key detection can be uncertain.
A result may differ from another source when the song contains:
- modulation or key changes;
- modal harmony;
- ambiguous tonal centers;
- sparse harmony;
- unusual tuning;
- strong chromatic movement;
- only a very short analyzed section.
Try:
- analyzing a longer representative part of the song;
- avoiding intros or outros with unusual harmony;
- comparing the result with an instrument;
- checking another reliable musical reference.
The Song Key Finder should be treated as a useful analysis tool rather than a guarantee that every song has one unambiguous detected key.
YouTube Video Does Not Load
A YouTube-related tool may fail to load a video because of restrictions controlled by YouTube or the video owner.
Possible causes include:
- the video is private;
- embedding is disabled;
- the video is age-restricted;
- the video is blocked in your region;
- the video has been removed;
- the URL is unsupported;
- YouTube has changed its player behavior;
- the browser prevents part of the embedded experience.
A standard public YouTube video URL generally provides the best chance of compatibility.
If YouTube itself is not loading normally in your browser, the problem may be with the third-party platform rather than OnlinePitchChanger.com.
A Tool Works on One Device but Not Another
Browser and device capabilities can differ.
Possible differences include:
- supported codecs;
- memory limits;
- microphone permissions;
- hardware performance;
- media APIs;
- browser security rules.
If a tool works on one device but not another:
- update the browser;
- check permissions;
- test the same input in another current browser;
- try a shorter or smaller file;
- compare whether the device supports the required media format.
A difference between devices does not necessarily mean either result is permanently broken.
