Online Autotune

This online autotune corrects the pitch of a solo vocal in your browser. Open a vocal file or record yourself, let the tool find the key, choose a retune speed (0 ms for the hard robotic sound, about 50 ms for natural correction), compare before and after, and download MP3 or WAV. Free, no sign-up, no upload.

Autotune and Pitch-Correct Your Vocal

For a solo vocal: open or record it, check the key, choose the retune speed, compare, download.

Your vocal

Works on one voice singing alone (an acapella or a vocal track). A full song with music will not correct well. Not live: it corrects a recording. Processed on your device, never uploaded. Up to 6 minutes.

Start here: open a vocal file or record your voice.

Vocal: none yet

Your pitch curve appears here, on the notes of the key.

Listen to
0:00 / 0:00

Open or record a vocal to see its pitch against the notes of the key.

Key and scale

The key is detected from your vocal. Pick it yourself if you know it.

Retune speed

Tight: firm correction; fast slides get smoothed.

Download

Open or record a vocal first. The file name gets the key and retune speed.

More options chromatic, humanize, dry/wet mix, A4 tuning
Chromatic mode On snaps to the nearest of all 12 notes. Use it when you do not know the key or the melody uses notes outside it.
440 Hz is standard. Change it only if the backing track is tuned differently (for example 432 Hz).

How to autotune a vocal online

  1. Open or record the vocal. Use a vocal-only file (an acapella or the vocal track from your recording app) or press Record your vocal. Sing with headphones if a beat is playing, so the music does not leak into the microphone.
  2. Check the key. The key is detected from your singing and shown under Key and scale. If you know the key of the song, pick it; if not, run the backing track through the Song Key Finder (in Related tools below).
  3. Set the retune speed. Robotic 0 ms gives the hard autotune effect, Tight 20 ms firm pop correction, Natural 50 ms a light touch.
  4. Compare. Press Play and switch between Before and After at the same moment. The graph shows your pitch in amber and the corrected pitch in blue on the notes of the key.
  5. Download. MP3 or WAV, the same length as your vocal, named with the key and retune speed so it lines up with your beat in any editor.

More options adds chromatic mode (all 12 notes), humanize, a dry/wet mix and the A4 reference (440 Hz by default, 432 Hz for tracks tuned lower).

Retune speed: from the T-Pain effect to natural pitch correction

Retune speed is how quickly a note is pulled onto the correct pitch after you start it or slide into it. It decides whether autotune is an audible effect or a hidden correction.

Retune speed settings and their sound
Retune speedWhat you hearUse it for
0 ms (Robotic)Every note jumps straight to the scale note; slides turn into steps. This is the hard-tune or “T-Pain” sound.Trap, hyperpop and pop hooks where the effect is the point
10–25 ms (Tight)Notes lock quickly, quick slides get smoothed, vibrato is mostly flattened.Modern pop and rap vocals
40–80 ms (Natural)Held notes are corrected; scoops, slides and most vibrato stay.Ballads, acoustic songs, fixing a few sour notes
100–200 ms (Gentle)Only long notes move, and only part of the way.Light polish on an already good take

Humanize keeps part of your vibrato around each corrected note; a dry/wet mix below 100 % blends the untouched voice back in for a doubled sound.

How the pitch correction works

Studio pitch correction in four steps, all in your browser:

  1. Pitch tracking. Every 12 milliseconds the vocal is measured with the YIN method, which finds the length of one vibration of the voice. The result is your pitch over time, the amber line.
  2. Pitch marks. Inside each sung phrase, every single cycle of the waveform is marked.
  3. Target note. Each moment is matched to the nearest note of the chosen key. A small hysteresis of 20 cents stops the target from flickering between two notes when you sing right between them (100 cents = one semitone, see what semitones are).
  4. Re-spacing (PSOLA). The single cycles are laid down again slightly closer together (higher) or further apart (lower). Because each cycle keeps its own shape, the vowel colour, called the formants, stays in place: no chipmunk sound, and the length does not change.

Silence, breaths and unvoiced sounds such as “s”, “t” and “sh” have no pitch, so they are copied untouched. There is no AI model and no server: the processing is plain signal processing, which is why a three-minute vocal is ready in seconds and never leaves your device.

Choose the right key and scale

Autotune can only pull a note to the right place if it knows which notes are allowed. That is the key of the song. A major key and its relative minor use the same seven notes, so C major and A minor correct in exactly the same way.

Scales in the tool (example key: A)
ScaleNotes when the key is AGood for
MajorA B C♯ D E F♯ G♯Most pop, country and rock melodies
MinorA B C D E F GDarker songs; same notes as C major
Harmonic minorA B C D E F G♯Melodies that rise to the leading tone
Major pentatonicA B C♯ E F♯Simple hooks; strong snapping, very robotic at 0 ms
Minor pentatonicA C D E GR&B, blues and rap-sung lines
ChromaticAll 12 notesUnknown key or melodies with many passing notes

Fewer notes in the scale mean stronger snapping. The music key chart lists the notes of every key and the circle of fifths shows which keys are related. If a song is simply too high or too low for you, correction is not the fix: change the key of the backing track with the online key changer instead.

What online autotune can and cannot do

  • One voice at a time. It follows a single melody line. Harmonies, choirs, rap doubles and chords confuse the pitch tracking.
  • Not a full song. With drums and instruments in the file the pitch of the voice cannot be measured reliably. Use a separated vocal (acapella or stem); the tool warns you when only a small part of a file has one clear pitch.
  • Not live or real-time. It corrects a recording. For a microphone on stage, a stream or live monitoring you need a hardware unit or a plug-in; see the best pitch correction software for DAW plug-ins and live options.
  • Very wrong notes snap to the wrong note. A note sung more than half a semitone off lands on the neighbouring note. Pick the correct key, or re-record that line.
  • Clean recordings work best. Heavy reverb, echo or background noise make the pitch harder to follow. Recording tips are in common pitch problems for singers.

For a video, save its sound as audio first and open the vocal here; the video pitch changer shifts a whole soundtrack by a fixed amount but does not correct notes. In a DAW, Audacity and GarageBand guides show their own pitch tools.

Autotune vs pitch correction vs pitch shifting

Pitch correction moves each note by its own amount to the nearest correct note, all the time. Autotune is the everyday word for the same job; Auto-Tune is a trademark of Antares Audio Technologies, and this free tool is not related to it. Pitch shifting moves everything by one fixed amount, for example two semitones down, which is what the audio pitch changer does. The key change vs pitch change guide explains the related terms.

Questions about online autotune

Is this online autotune free?

Yes. It is free with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on downloads. Vocals up to 6 minutes work.

Can I use it live or in real time?

No. It corrects a recorded vocal, which takes a few seconds. Live pitch correction needs a hardware unit or a real-time plug-in.

Does it work on a full song with music?

Not well. The pitch of the voice cannot be measured under drums and instruments. Use a vocal-only file; a separated vocal from a stem splitter works.

What settings give the T-Pain effect?

Retune speed 0 ms and the correct key. Pentatonic scales make the jumps even more obvious. Keep humanize at 0 % and the mix at 100 %.

Will autotune make a bad singer sound good?

It fixes pitch, not everything. Near-miss notes come out clean; timing, tone and very wrong notes stay as they are.

Is my recording uploaded?

No. The file and the recording are processed on your device and are never sent to a server.

Tested: what we measured

  • A test vocal with every note off (+35, −30 and +45 cents, a vibrato and a slow slide) came back within 0.8 cents of the scale notes at retune 0 ms, measured on the downloaded WAV.
  • Silence and breath noise were identical to the input, sample for sample, and the length did not change.
  • The vowel colour stayed: the formant envelope moved by 0.8 dB after correction.
  • A microphone recording sung 30 cents sharp was corrected to 440 Hz within 0.2 cents.

Test signals were synthetic vocals; real voices with reverb or noise give less exact results. Last updated 28 September 2026 by Mayer. How we test: how it works.
